Spice or medicinal herb?
Let’s take a closer look at curcuma: this spice contains essential oils having a positive effect on gastric juices by stimulating bile production and improving the stomach’s efficiency.
Curcumin is the name of the yellow staining pigment that has anti carcinogenic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The anti-carcinogenic effect has been observed increasingly in cases of intestinal cancer.
The curcuma root contains other enzymes that inhibit inflammation, benefitting the joints. Curcumin is said to reduce bone deterioration, thereby positively affecting bone density and the stability of the whole body.
In traditional Indonesian medicine, curcurma is used as the main ingredient in a special remedy called jamu, “applied for a number of ailments to strengthen the immune system and prevent infection and disease of the respiratory tract” .
Our curcuma has a strong aroma and characteristically taste. You´ll love the quality and the taste. Our organic Fairtrade turmeric pieces are gently produced from pre-sorted whole turmeric roots with the greatest care. Our tumeric is completely natural and 100% pure.
Origin and Production:
We source our organic fairtrade turmeric pieces from India. Fairtrade farmers‘ gardens and fields are certified for organic and FAIRTRADE cultivation. The farmers are members of the cooperative Mass with about 1400 peasant farmers. Thanks to cooperation with Fairtrade, the farmers can earn their living in a secure and independent fashion. The Fairtrade bonus helps them to finance projects such as clean drinking water, learning materials for schoolchildren and educational projects.
After the turmeric roots are harvested and cleaned, the roots are dried using conventional, environmentally friendly methods.
As you can imagine, farmers in India still greatly value work that is done by hand, carrying out many individual processing stages in the traditional way. This provides urgently needed jobs in the region, and and the food itself, profit from direct human contact.
